Things missing: It didn’t offer much in the way of content, and the level up system was purely progression-based. I actually played this game over and over, just to complete a new character. There’s some really neat effects when you run into other people, but it really never got exciting. Besides the fact that you could only get one at a time, it didn’t seem like there was much of a world to explore, since it’s just this vast 3D landscape. I was looking forward to seeing what the Elden Empire was like… Although the release for the PS4 was delayed, it was also the one where the game was simply put to bed. I literally went to play it and it immediately asked me to buy it on the PSN. On the plus side, it was a lot more relaxing than playing it on the PS3, since I didn’t have to deal with any crashes and I could put the controller down without worrying that I’d lose it. Although there were differences in how you equip and use your gear, the end result is still the same: if I die, I lose everything that I gained. The PvP system is really only useful for knowing your own fate, since it doesn’t really affect your team if you die. The combat system is relatively simple, but the way that the boss monsters broke up the combat was done really well. Also, the story cutscenes are simply beautiful. This game is well worth the purchase, although I would’ve liked to have gotten more content at launch. (Oct 11, 2015) Things I liked: Combat is just extremely fun. You spend most of the game getting up to speed with fighting and after that the fights are very fluid. You can do combos, use melee weapons, and jump around to dodge attacks. This is the type of game that rewards you for going slow and using your power properly. The experience points in this game felt like a good way to keep the incentive for mastering the combat system going, since the experience point cap actually led to a massive amount of upgrades in the abilities you could purchase. The arena battles were also super fun. Just like the combat, you unlock the power of your arena opponents as you play against them, so you’re always learning new techniques. The way the boss battles broke up each enemy wave and came at you from multiple angles was pretty awesome. bff6bb2d33
