The Moog A-210 is the ancestor of the A-Series Polymoog synthesizers, and the only version still in production today. It is a subtractive synthesizer, meaning that the oscillators (or sound-generating sections of the synth) are fed via gain reduction from an external signal, usually a keyboard, via an envelope generator.

The A-210 is often considered to be one of the most recognizable and successful mono synthesizers ever built, with its distinctive ring modulation and shimmering oscillators.

The A-210 adds a particular modulation effect to your favorite synth. It computes the secondary’s high-end and low-end envelopes with an onboard G2 envelope generation algorithm. The modulation ranges from -1.0 to 1.0 with three modulation types (Saw, Triangle and Sawtooth), three modulation lengths and three modulation types (auto, attack and decay) available. The envelope rates for the modulating signal are controlled with three different envelope types in the algorithm and you can regulate the feedback with an external slider.

The interface is designed for FX processing. You may add more envelopes with up to 12 independent envelopes. You can control the modulation for individual notes and entire chords, include cross modulation, effects and feature up to four audio inputs. You may adjust the internal Oscillator, the Filter, the LFO and the Ring Modulator with the FX function.

When the modulation range is at its maximum, the audio passes through an Audio Input, passes through a 4 Band Graphic EQ and is then processed by the Modulator. The Modulator has a notched EQ which gives a choice between overdrive, distortion and chorus with each of the three modulation types. You may adjust the Pitch and Modation to determine the input, in the Modulation range from -1.0 to 1.0, to cut off part of your sound and re-integrate it.

The A-210 is a real-time plug-in, therefore it doesn’t need MIDI or audio interfaces. In addition, the A-210 can process up to 12 independent envelopes and can be implemented within a live performance.

VST AU Native
The A-210 VST is also available as a native AU plug-in. The same functionality is available through the AU plug-in interface. The AU version comes with the same features as the VST version. The AU version also includes two visualizers.
