If you are wondering what this game is all about, than do a quick google search. It comes from the same series as the Witcher games and the last one in that series is called The Lords of the Fallen. There are a lot of moving parts to this game, so I’m going to try to keep my review brief, but first off I want to tell you a bit about the setting. In this game, the world has been torn apart by many different feuds and while the ones that I’ve played haven’t been plot-relevant, I’m gonna play out a general theme that I’ve played through a couple of times. So without further ado I’ll get into the review.
The game follows the story of an embittered Lord of the Lands Between who is seeking to return to a normal life in the human realm after years of war and furthering his own ambitions. The player sees him in the game as a character and begins the story as a young man, called “Markus”, in a small village. The village is overrun by bandits that are interested in using him as a decoy for their leader. Markus’ best friend is a young woman named “Tina” who comes to town to sell honey. Markus goes to the town to go find a way to restore peace in the village and to make amends. To his surprise he is informed that a way to do so was placed in the lands between the worlds long ago. Markus begins traveling to find the path, but encounters dangerous people along the way and has his life put in danger.
The game is very story heavy, with plenty of choices along the way. There are multiple stories within the game, with more of the main story occurring in the lands between. This is a great feature of the game as you get to see the lands between the world and it actually changes your game experience. The main story feels pretty linear, especially if you stick to it. If the main story line isn’t your cup of tea then you can follow the side stories as well. With the storytelling aspects of the game, you always have something to choose from, even if it’s not your favorite idea.
Combat is pretty standard fare in an action RPG. You have limited resources so you need to use them carefully. You can equip your character with a variety of weapons, and you can do two kinds of attacks, normal attacks and special attacks. You can use these to fight enemies but also to attack bosses that spawn in some of the harder levels. The
