Dictionaries

We all know the wonderful things that can be done using dictionaries. However, you may not have known how they can be used for academic work. This is quite simple: simply set up a different dictionary to your normal one. You can use the same dictionary for your own research, but set the fields to private so that you don’t have to worry about anyone copying them.

If you write a lot of academic notes in your field of study, there is a great time-saver to use for note-taking. Create a copy of the dictionary, which you can add more fields to when you find that you will need them. Then, use the following shortcut:
ote{}\cite{} This will replace the text “note” with your notes, and automatically use the fields that you have created in your dictionary. To create new fields, use
ewfield{}.
