Supporting an independent game developer can be difficult and you might have been wondering, “who the hell do I know that can help me?”. This may come as a surprise but a large segment of game developers are artists or designers, creating illustrations, drawings, or animations for the games they’re designing.The super talented Aiden Parka who was working for Turbine Inc as a concept artist was kind enough to help support my game with her art talents. I was just as happy to get a chance to work with her as she was to work on my game. I wanted to do a really big and detailed art update, given the setting of the game is in a really vast landmass. I had to go back to concepts I created a few years ago when I was starting out and work on them, tweaking and adjusting them to give them the right look for Akash and the Nexus. I spent lots of time doing battle preparation before a fight so I could refine the enemies. As you play, Akash, Aurora, and Caspian explore and investigate places of intrigue. You’ll be solving puzzles, interacting with NPCs, and uncovering Akash’s backstory. Learn about him and help him. Akash is a trader, dealing in weapons, and medicinal goods. He’s also a sportsman and collector, and keeps trophies and sporting goods on his boat. Aurora is a geographer, studying natural resources and the land around Akash’s home. Caspian is a mechanic and fixer, repairing and building mechanical devices. Aurora will collect resources that can be used to upgrade Akash’s own equipment, or that of his ship. Caspian can fix mechanical devices and weapons that Akash is struggling to repair. Both Aurora and Caspian will be in your squad for more than one mission. They might not always be as helpful, but they will grow with you. The new mission you’ll undertake introduces new challenges for Akash. Be the hero you’re meant to be. Explore a lush tropical island world while exploring the history of this idyllic area and becoming friends with your comrades. Your home base is a weather-beaten wooden craft that has the potential to change and grow with you. You’ll meet the locals and search for the way to the Nexus.
