While the native file format of AutoCAD is Draw and is not intended for use with external programs, it can be opened and modified by external programs in the DXF file format.

External views and “viewports” are used to show a different set of drawing parts in a single view, often at different levels of zoom, using different tools (such as cross-hairs or measurement tools) and often with different scales and origins. External views and viewports can be created in the GUI or by command. They can be saved as templates to be reused later.

Now in the Features tab, right click on the feature you want to edit.

Now click on the second icon next to a feature.

Select Edit Feature Properties.

Now open the user data tab.

Now select the file and export it.

Now enter the password and save the file.

Now make a new drawing with this file.

Now make a new feature in it.

Now switch to the model tab.

Now double-click on the feature that you have just created.

In the Feature Properties dialog box, the file and the properties are listed.
