Ravenfield is a singleplayer game in the vein of older team-vs-team AI shooters. The game is designed to be easy to pick up and play, but also rewarding for all skill levels!
To win, you must defeat your opponent in the game, collecting the most points in the process. You’ll fight over multiple zones, and will be able to choose a difficulty setting to play the game at.
However, to make it more complicated, two teams will fight against each other at the same time. Blue teams are your allies, so you’ll team up with the team that gives you the best chances to win. Most weapons will have a time-to-kill, but it’s possible to launch a direct attack on your opponent, with no other teams in the area. In order to anticipate your opponent, you’ll need to look at the different characteristics of each unit: their movement pattern, range, rate of fire, reload speed, health, effective armor, and the number of allies they support.
The rule of thumb: Don’t take into account just the raw damage output of units, but what percentage of that damage can you inflict within a limited time. If a unit can finish off a second enemy unit in less than the unit’s own time-to-kill, it’s probably not worth the risk of having it hit by the opponent!
Another rule of thumb is that the bigger the unit, the more damage it can do in a single shot. However, the time in which it can do so goes down. A small unit can inflict damage in a single shot, but it will take longer to do so.
